Popular supplement Property Plus has been re-launched, paving the way for more cutting edge, detailed content
The Hindu’s popular Saturday realty supplement Property Plus, was re-launched as habitat here on Friday.
Welcoming the change was women-only Russian band, ‘Bride’, who gave the launch a touch of Bollywood on the accordion.
Property Plus has for 12 years built a loyal following among readers, realtors, builders and bankers. The supplement was launched in 2000, and as the city grew outside its known boundaries the supplement offered readers an insight into the changes the city witnessed.
Siddharth Varadarajan, Editor, The Hindu, who launched habitat, with its pleasant turquoise-blue masthead, termed it as a change that would bring the supplement closer to the readers.
He appreciated the efforts of the realtors in “building a new Chennai” and hoped that the new avatar of the supplement would, “through our joint efforts make the city more liveable”.
The first copy was received by Sandeep Mehta, president of CREDAI, who has spelled a return of the boom in the realty sector in his article ‘The road ahead in Chennai’, in the inaugural edition of habitat, which will be available along with the newspaper on Saturday.
According to Mr. Mehta, Chennai’s suburbs will register a residential growth, and banks will likely start offering finance for several residential projects.
With this change, habitat had paved the way for more editorial content, including coverage of the industry, introducing readers to cutting edge and whacky interior designs, designing green homes, exploring energy options, besides providing details about home loans and taxation.
There will also be a Q&A session allowing for interaction with the readers, said Deputy Editor Vaishna Roy.
