Industrial Estates and residential areas around Chennai have a history of poorly-maintained roads. Be it Guindy or Ambattur or even Maraimalai Nagar far away from the city, roads inside the industrial estates and even in localities around them are always in a poor condition and SIDCO Nagar Road is no exception.
Well- planned roads criss-cross the industrial estate that is close to Villivakkam railway station, but the roads have been hammered badly during the recent northeast Monsoon whose intensity has picked over the past couple of days.
Sathya Ravi, a technical support employee, is among the scores of residents in the city who is troubled by the pathetic condition of basic amenities.
“I have been a resident of SIDCO Nagar since my birth and I am appalled at the condition of roads. The SIDCO Nagar Main road, especially, among the most important stretches in our locality has been very bad for the past six months,” Ms. Ravi says while speaking to The Hindu , and adds that there has been absolutely no response from government bodies.
