The civic body has decided to permit ‘road cuts’ to help government agencies provide service connections and other infrastructure to residents.
The civic body had withheld road-cut permissions for the past few months, because of the rains. Soon, as many as 2,000 roads in the city will be dug up for infrastructure work, including laying of water and drainage networks, and cables for telecom and power supply projects, officials said.
Several residents had reportedly started digging up roads without permission from the Corporation.
In a bid to improve the quality of re-laid roads, the civic body has revised claim charges for restoration of road cuts. The rate for restoration of one sq. metre of bus route roads has been fixed at Rs. 5,362.
Residents will also be given access to the list of permitted road cuts with details on the deadline of each stretch.
