Industrial safety awards presented

Minister for Rural Industries and Labour P. Mohan presented safety awards and best worker awards to managements and employees respectively for the years 2010, 2011 and 2012 here on Wednesday.

Speaking about various initiatives taken by the government, he said that schemes worth nearly Rs. 127 crore have been announced.

To reduce the number of accidents in factories, several safety classes have been conducted for nearly 64,000 workers, Mr. Mohan said.

Labour and employment secretary M. Veerashanmugamani, director of industrial safety and health C. Gnanasekara Babu Rao and the additional director of industrial safety and health were among those present at the event.
