December 01, 2014 08:02 am | Updated April 07, 2016 02:21 am IST - CHENNAI:

The second edition of Fairplay, a joint sports initiative of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI) and The Hindu , was inaugurated on Saturday.

More than 800 employees from over 35 realty firms are participating in the contest which features 12 sporting events.

Speaking on the occasion, Ajit Chordia, president, CREDAI Chennai, stressed the importance of fitness. He said people think of the construction industry as a very serious business. Such events organised by CREDAI are healthy signs for people who are a part of it. In his address, Rajiv Lochan, chief executive officer and managing director, The Hindu , said when employees come together and take part in such events, it creates a strong bond between people spread across various departments within an organisation.

Such a large participation from companies and employees, who are otherwise competitors in the market, unites the industry, he said.

W.S. Habib, CREDAI secretary, said people who blame lack of time as a reason for not being active enough should reschedule their daily routine so they get enough time for exercise.
