Workshop on road safety

The Department of Civil Engineering of St. Peter’s University, Avadi, organised a national-level workshop on Advanced Techniques in Road Safety Management which was sponsored by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). P. Rajan, Director, Institute of Road Transport, Taramani, who inaugurated the workshop, stressed the need for road safety by observing traffic rules such as wearing of helmets for two-wheelers and seatbelt for cars.

The other dignitaries who also spoke are D.S. Ramachandra Murthy, Vice-Chancellor; K. Balagurunathan, advisor; L. Maheshkumar, director (academics), St. Peter’s University; P. Partheeban, dean (academic), St. Peter’s College of Engineering and Technology; and Professors — H. Prasad Raju, K. Karthik and R. Vinoth Raj Kumar, coordinated the workshop.

As many as 50 college drivers have undergone special training from Institute of Road Transport, Taramani, as part of this workshop.
