Ever since T20 cricket came into the forefront several tournaments had come up and not to lag behind was Seven Star Cricket Association which organised the SSCA champions tournament that attracted 32 teams.

Expectedly the competition was keen right through and in the final, which was played at the Marina turf ground, Villai Warriors chalked out a 30-run win over RR Donnelley. Athiraj Shandilya did the star turn for the winner scoring 56 and earning the ‘Man of the match’ award as well.

D. Sivanandan of T I Cycles and Parry RC and Kannapan, Coordinator of Simpson and Co ltd were the chief guests on the final day. Following special prizes were given away: Man of the series: M. Yuvaraj (163 runs and four wickets for RSJ CC); best batsman: P.S. Sivaramakrishnan (160 runs) of Villai Warriors; best bowler: A. Ravindran (15 wickets) of RSJ CC.

Also present on the occasion were among others, P. Shankar and P.S. Lakshmipathy, President and Secretary respectively of SSCA.
