Rhapsody Education through Music (Swathi Soft Solutions Initiative), with an idea of taking classical music appreciation to the young, is conducting Children’s Musical Rhapsody from December 19 to 21. The music season will be taken to schools during the peak of the December . Prominent musicians such as Unnikrishnan, Sikkil Gurucharan and Neyveli Santhanagopalan will be interacting directly with children.
A brainchild of classical musician Anil Srinivasan and music educator Dr. Sudha Raja, this initiative will also comprise of specially conceived one-hour lecture-concerts for the children featuring artists H.K. Venktaram (Violin), Mysore Chandan Kumar (Flute) and Suma Sudhindra (Veena). Financial support is being provided by Tarangini Arts Foundation, Bangalore.
Dr Y.G. Parthasarathy, Pappu Venugopala Rao (Secretary, Music Academy), R.T. Chari (Member, Music Academy Committee), Saba Retnam (Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan) will be special guests. Children trained by Dr. Sudha Raja will also give short performances at the events, to be held during schools hours. Storytrails will regale children with stories based on music and music composers.
On December 19, from 10 a.m. till noon interaction with Unnikrishnan followed by a performance by Mysore Chandan Kumar will be held at PSBB, T.P. Road, T. Nagar.
On December 20, interaction with Neyveli Santhanagopalan followed by a performance by Suma Sudhindra will be held at Arsha Vidya Mandir, Velachery.
On December 21 interaction with Sikkil Gurucharan followed by a performance by H.K. Venkataram will be held at Bhavan’s TAG auditorium at Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidyashram, Kilpauk. For details, contact Dr. Sudha Raja at 98401 32913.
