The Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre (TNSTC) in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is setting up a ‘Space Gallery’ at a cost of Rs. 60 lakhs.
The gallery will throw light on development of space technology in India, said Dr. P. Iyamperumal, Executive Director, Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre.
We have plans to showcase models of Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV), Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), and Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) in the gallery, added the director.
“A scale-down model of SLV 1.6, (10 m long), will be kept in a horizontal position, to explain the first, second and third stage of a rocket, will be part of the exhibits”.
A mock-up control room will be set up to explain about how a rocket is launched into a space and the various ways to observe the trajectory of a rocket.
DRDO Pavillion
Work is going on in full swing in setting up a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Pavilion on TNSTC campus.
The pavilion will showcase the works undertaken by the DRDO in more than its 50 laboratories across the nation in the field of aeronautics, armaments, electronics, combat vehicles, engineering systems, instrumentation, missiles, advanced computing and stimulation, special materials, naval systems, life sciences, training, information systems and agriculture.
