The residents of Nanganallur and the general public have submitted a ‘savingram’ to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking him to revise the recent hike in petrol prices and drop the plan to increase diesel and LPG prices.
Repeated hike in petrol and diesel prices in the last three months have considerably pushed up the rates of essential commodities, the savingram said.
“We learnt that there is a move to increase the diesel and LPG prices in September. We request you to drop the proposed move, and revise the hike in petrol prices in the interest of the common people,” it added.
More than 10, 000 people have signed the ‘savingram’, and it has been submitted to Dr. Singh.
A week-long mass signature campaign will be conducted, V. Rama Rao, convener of the campaign, said.
