Centre for Media and Public Affairs (CMPA) has chosen Shriram Foundation as the ‘Outstanding Institution of the Year 2012’ for promoting Montessori system of education.

Significance

The announcement was made on January 6. Historically, on January 06, 1907, Maria Montessori opened her first school and day-care centre for working-class children in Rome.

Hence, Centre for Media and Public Affairs considers January 6 as a significant day to realise the importance of educating the children of working class in a progressive nation like India.

Shriram Matriculation School, Thiruneermalai; Sri Sri Vidya Mandir School Thirukadaiyur; VSR Montessori School, Reddivaripalle; are among the institutions run by Shriram Foundation. These schools have adopted Montessori methodology.
