The idea ‘Sewage Management Using Radio Frequency’ put forward by three Class XI students of DAV Velachery has been shortlisted in the competition organised by the University of Technology Sydney. And, if the team wins the competition ‘Creativity Meets Technology IT – 2013’, they will be showing how the city’s sewage system can be better managed using radio frequency. The Chennai team is one of the twelve shortlisted for the ‘People’s Choice Award’.
School students had to present a report on a topic of local or global importance, where the aim was to see how IT can offer solution to issues of environmental sustainability. “No working model was required. The challenge was to come up with an idea which can be practically implemented,” says V. Meenakshi, the computer faculty who mentored the team comprising S. Madhusudhan, R. Sankara Prasad and J.Shriram.
Last week, the school management sent SMS to parents asking them to cast their vote.
Voting closes on October 20. For details, visit >Creativity Meets Technology .
