Green Rotary award was presented to Rotary International District 3230 by ExNoRa International. The award is in recognition of Rotary’s efforts in ensuring that Elliots Beach remained clean and litter free after the recently concluded three-day food festival — Enjoy Arusuvai Thiruvizha (EAT).
EAT was organised from October 12 in aid of the Happy Village Project by Rotary International District 3230. The food festival received more than 60,000 visitors. Within 24 hours of the mega event, Go Green team from Rotary ensured that the beach was restored to its beauty and left clean.
Happy Village Project, conceptualized by Rotary International District 3230, aims at adopting 100 villages to bring about qualitative changes to the lives of more than 1,00,000 people. EAT was a fund raiser for projects at the villages.
Through the Green Rotary award, ExNoRa International recognises the extraordinary commitment displayed by members of Rotary movement.
During a brief ceremony, a special address was made by M.B. Nirmal, founder of ExNoRa International, followed by an acceptance speech by Rtn. Raja Seenivasan, District Governor, Rotary International District 3230.
