Contests for children held

The 12 Ward Residents Welfare Association in East Tambaram conducted drawing, fancy dress and elocution competitions and games for children recently.

The events were held at Jaigopal Garodia National Higher Secondary School. R.S. Venkataramanan, president of the association, welcomed the gathering.

T.K.M. Chinnayya, Minister for Animal Husbandry, was the chief guest and handed over prizes to children. M. Karikalan, Tambaram Municipal Chairman, and Sai Ganesh, ward member, were among others present.

Mr. Chinnayya assured to provide a children’s play ground on Andal Street.

Venkatesh, Vignesh, Sivasurya and Swathi, children from the ward made a cultural programme on schemes from Central and State government on child welfare. N. Sridharan, secretary, thanked the gathering.
