During the rains, commuters have a difficult time entering the bus terminus at Mogappair East (J.J. Nagar East). With the terminus getting slushy, they choose to board the buses outside. Now, that is one of the minor problems plaguing these commuters. They contend with inadequate lighting and lack of a proper shelter.

With 33 buses plying from the terminus and many others halting at the terminus, the red soil surface takes a lot of battering. During the rains, they quickly turn slushy.

“The terminus lacks proper seating arrangements. During peak hours, most people can be seen standing,” said V. Chitra, a resident of Veeramamunivar Street in Mogappair East.

When contacted, a Metropolitan Transport Corporation official acknowledged that representations had indeed been received from commuters. “The development work at the terminus will start soon,” he said. Maduravoyal MLA G. Beemrao assured the commuters that he would take up the issue with the MTC authorities.
