The 19th Brahmothsavam of Sri Ananthapadmanabhaswamy Temple, Gandhi Nagar, Adyar, is being held from February 15-26. A. N. Srinivasa Rao, Secretary, Sri Ananthapadmanabhaswamy Temple - Dhrama Paripalana Sabha, said, “The 19th Brahmothsavam of the Ananthapadmanabhaswamy Temple is being held from February 15 to 26 with Kodiyetram on February 16.”

“The Brahmothsavam is one of the most important annual festivals of the Temple. It is believed that Lord Brahma, The God of Creation, first performed the Festival to Lord Balaji at Tirupati.

10, 000 to 15,000 devotees expected

Around 10, 000 to 15,000 devotees are expected to take part in the fest. Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place for the annual Brahmothsavam.

On February 15, Sri Maha Ganapathy Homam and Sri Vinayagar Veethi Ula; February 16, Kodiyetram - Meena Lagnam, and Sri Swami Veethi Ula were held; February 17 (today), Sri Swami Veethi Ula will be held between 7 to 9 a.m., and a vocal concert by Sikkil C. Gurucharan at 7.15 p.m.; February 18, Prathista Dhinam and Moolavar Abhishegam will be held at 6 a.m., and a vocal concert by Ranjani and Gayatri at 7.15 p.m.; February 19, Sri Swami Veethi Ula between 7 to 9 a.m., and a vocal concert by Gayatri Girish at 7.15 p.m.; February 20, Sri Swami Veethi Ula - Sri Garuda Sevai wil be held at 7 a.m., and a vocal concert by N. Vijay Siva will be held at 7.15 p.m.; February 21, a vocal concert by Dr. S. Sowmya will be held at 7.15 p.m.; February 22, Sri Moolavar Abhishegam will be held at 6 a.m., ‘Thiruther’ - Kumba Lagnam (Sri Ananthapadmanabhaswamy Swamy Alankaram) will be held at 7 a.m., a Violin-duet concert by T.N. Krishnan and Viji Krishnan will be held at 7.15 p.m.; February 23, Sri Swami Veethi Ula will be held at 7.30 a.m.; February 24, Sri Swami Veethi Ula will be held at 7.30 a.m., ‘Thirukalyanam’ will be held at 3.30 p.m., and a vocal concert by Abhishek Raghuram will be held at 7.15 p.m.; February 25, Pournami - Sri Moolavar Abhishegam-Kalasa Abhishegam will be held at 6 a.m., Kalasa Abhishegam - Utsavar will be held at 10 a.m., a vocal concert by Malladi brothers - Sriram Prasad and Ravikumar will be held at 7.15 p.m.; February 26, Utsavar - Shanthi Abhishegam-108 Sanga Abhishegam will be held at 9 a.m. and a vocal concert K. J. Yesudas will be held at 6.45 p.m.

From February 15 to 26 (Morning and Evening), Yagasala Poojas, Vedhaparayanam, and Divya Prabandam will be held at 10 a.m., Sri Uthsavar Abhishegam with Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam chanting will be held, and Oonjal Uthsavam will be held in the evenings daily.

On February 27, a vocal concert by Dr. Vijayalakshmi Subramanyam, as part of Golden Jubilee Celebrations, will be held at 6.45 p.m. For details, contact the temple at 2441 2529.
