Blood donation camp at A. M. Jain College

More than 250 units of blood were collected in a special blood donation camp held A.M.Jain College in Meenambakkam recently. The camp was jointly organised by National Cadet Corps, National Service Scheme, Rotaract Club and YRC. A blood bank team comprising doctors, nurses, and technicians from Rajiv Gandhi Governmental General Hospital, Chennai visited the camp. The camp was inaugurated by Principal R.Narasimhan in the presence of various extension activities coordinators and students. N.C.C Artillary unit Head Liutenent T.Thulasiram, N.C.C. Unit Signal Unit Head G.Mahaveer, NSS, Programme Officers M.Ganeshan, Rajani Priya, Balamukunthan, Rotract Club Faculty in charge Sumathi Sivakumar, S.Manikandan, and YRC Faculty in charge Y.John Ilavarasu were among others who took part.

The college organised a seminar on national security threat/safety of Indian nuclear programme to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Post Graduate and Research Department of Chemistry. J. Daniel Chellappa, Scientist , Bhabha Atomic Research centre and Technical Coordinator, Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project, gave a lecture. The basic operation of our nuclear plants Kalpakkam, and safety operations of our nuclear power plants were touched upon explained to participants in a lucid manner.
