Thanksgiving: Pongal celebration at Valliammal College for Women.

Students of Valliammal College for Women celebrated the harvest festival of the State – ‘Thamizhar Thirunaal’ and their cheers in welcoming the happiest occasion echoed on the walls of the sprawling campus.

They showcased their culinary and artistic flair during the ‘Pongal kondattam’. The day was colourful with a huge ‘rangoli’ by the students. Sweet pongal was prepared outside and offered to the Sun God and distributed to everyone. Bullock carts, in which cows were decorated with multi-coloured beads, bells, sheaves of corn and flowers garlands tied around their necks, brought a festive mood to the atmosphere. Music and dance filled the air with traditional harmony.

A typical village atmosphere was recreated on the college premises amidst the hussle and bussle of the city. Members of College Managaement Committee, Surya Maikandan and Preethi Arivudai Nambi participated in the occasion.
