Mahalakshmi, a resident of Singaravelar Nagar 1 Street in Kasimedu, told the Washermenpet police on Wednesday that a woman at Government Stanley Hospital had kidnapped her two-and-a-half-month-old daughter, after offering to look after her.

Upon investigation, the police found Mahalakshmi’s complaint to be false.

They also arrested her aunt, Desappattu (45), and Muthukrishnan (54) of Washermenpet for aiding her in selling the child.
