Woman dies of shock on seeing suicide bid

A 75-year-old woman in Nallankuppam died of shock after she saw a suicide attempt by a neighbour who jumped from the second floor of a three-storey building.

Police sources said the incident occurred on Sunday night at Government Quarters, Nallankuppam. Selvam(34), an autorickshaw driver, lives in the second floor of the building. Following a quarrel with his family members, Selvam jumped off from the second floor.

He fell right next to Sharadha (75), who was sleeping outside her house. Roused by her screams, family members came out of the house and found her unconscious, and Selvam seriously injured.

Both were rushed to the Government Hospital where doctors declared that Sharadha was brought dead. Selvam is undergoing treatment. Kumaran Nagar Police registered a case under Section 174 (suspicious death) of Criminal Procedure Code.
