Motorists complain of deflated tyres in Chennai

November 19, 2014 08:01 am | Updated 08:01 am IST - CHENNAI:

Motorists who had parked their vehicles on a service lane outside a cinema complex on Old Mahabalipuram Road in Navalur alleged the tyres of their vehicles were deflated. A movie-goer said when he came out of the complex at 7.30 p.m. on Sunday with his wife and child, he found the tyre of his motorcycle, and many others parked nearby, deflated. The motorists suspect the role of the police as the bikes were parked in a no-parking zone. “Even if it was a no-parking zone, we should have been charged a fine or the police could have clamped the tyres. It took me close to an hour to find a puncture shop,” he said. A police inspector, while denying the involvement of the police in the incident, said the vehicles were parked in a no-parking zone. Besides, there was also a threat of the vehicles getting stolen. As more than a dozen motorcycles’ tyres were deflated, they would investigate the incident, the Thazhambur police said.
