Four arrested for murder of Urapakkam panchayat president

The police arrested four more persons on Friday night, in connection with the murder of Urapakkam panchayat president U.K. Perumal on February 18.

According to the police, Sashikanth (33) and Jaiganesh (25) surrendered before the Poonamallee judicial magistrate court, a few days ago. Based on their statements, Jagadeesan (62) of Urapakkam, his son Sasikumar (28), Suresh (29) of Urapakkam, and D. Saravanan (27) of Guduvancherry, were arrested. Political rivalry and row over real estate deals were said to be motives behind the murder.
