Motorcycle-borne thieves snatched over 35 sovereigns of gold from women pedestrians in different parts of the city.
According to police sources, two men on a motorcycle snatched a nine-sovereign gold chain from Subulakshmi (65) of Ayyappa Nagar 5 Street in Koyambedu near the Koyambedu market on Monday evening.

The culprits snatched a four-sovereign chain from Uma Shankari (35), a resident of Ekambaram Street, Korukkupet, who was seated on the motorcycle driven by her husband Padmanabhan (40).
Their young daughter was also seated in front.
The incident rocked the vehicle and the three passengers suffered minor injuries as the snatchers fled with the gold.
In another incident, Yamuna (62) was targeted by snatchers on W. Block in Anna Nagar who fled with her nine-sovereign chain.
Another victim, Kavitha (39), was standing outside her house in Amaravathi Nagar East Cross Street in Arumbakkam when two men on a motorcycle snatched her 13-sovereign gold chain, police sources added.
