January 09, 2015 08:22 am | Updated 08:22 am IST - CHENNAI:

The decomposed body of a man was found inside a suitcase at Thanikachalam Nagar, Madhavaram, on Thursday morning.

Around 7.30 a.m., conservancy workers spotted the black suitcase in a drain on the 80 feet road. After the police was alerted, a team reached the spot and found the body of the man clad in a vest and shorts, with his hands tied behind his back. The victim, believed to be in his late 50s, had suffered an injury to his head, possibly due to a blow from a blunt object. The police suspect the body was dumped at the spot on Wednesday night after the murder was committed elsewhere, sources said.

“A gold chain and ring was found on his body, raising the suspicion that personal rivalry led to the murder. He had a watch with the logo of Port Trust. We are investigating if he was an employee there,” said S. Vimala, deputy commissioner, Madhavaram.
