Five men surrendered in city courts on Wednesday in connection with Tuesday’s murder of an AIADMK functionary.

Vinothkumar (23) of Velachery, Robin (22), Vikram (23) and Saravanan (23), all from Adambakkam, surrendered before the Tambaram court, while Iman (22) of Velachery surrendered in another court on Wednesday. They were remanded in judicial custody. The victim, K. Ezhumalai (43), was hacked to death near TNHB Colony Main Road in Velachery.

The murder was a fall-out of a personal enmity between Ezhumalai and a group of people involved in money lending, the police said, adding that a search was on for Joseph, another suspect in the case.
