The bail plea of a 24-year-old car driver, who hit a three-year-old boy on July 3, seriously injuring him in the legs, was rejected by a Sessions Court on Friday.

S. Geetha (40) of D’Miller’s Road was feeding her son, Hrithik Roshan (3), outside his school in Choolai on July 3, when they were hit by a car driven by Rahul Dhoka (24). The boy was injured in both legs.

He was admitted to Government Stanley Medical College Hospital, and the doctors there amputated his legs. Geetha too sustained injuries.

Rahul was arrested and remanded to Puzhal prison. His bail plea came up for hearing on Thursday.

Chief public prosecutor M.L. Jegan said Rahul Dhoka must pay Rs. 5.5 lakh to the victim and also bear the medical and educational expenses of the child. His family agreed to the conditions.

However, the court dismissed Rahul’s bail plea.
