The Crime Branch-CID on Monday handed over five boxes that contained cash that was looted in a train heist, to the court.

Unidentified persons had looted Rs. 5.75 crore from a huge consignment of soiled currency transported in a parcel van attached to the Salem-Chennai Express.

The personnel attached to CB-CID brought the boxes to XI Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Monday and the magistrate directed the CB-CID to retain the boxes as material objects under its custody. No significant clues have emerged in the case so far even as several teams have launched searches at several locations across the State. — Staff Reporter
