45-year-old man found murdered

The body of a man with a severe head injury was found in a burial ground near Outer Ring Road in the Nasarathpet police limits early on Saturday.

Police said he was murdered and his body had been dumped on the spot.

Nasarathpet police identified the deceased as Moorthi (45), a ragpicker, from Maduravoyal who was living in a bus stop in Nasarathpet.

He was last seen on Friday night by a fellow ragpicker Lakshmi, who also told the police that his friend Mottai (45) had taken him along after waking him up. Mottai is absconding.

The body was sent to the Government Kilpauk hospital for post-mortem and a further probe is under way.
