Want to go to a restaurant that serves authentic Korean food, but are not sure about where to head?
Are you scouting for a good library in a new neighbourhood? What are the chances you are asking the right person for help?
That is how ‘Frilp’, a Chennai-based start-up took shape: a website that pools in recommendations from friends, community and trusted experts.
‘Frilp’, which stands for ‘friend’s help’, helps to find relevant information most suited to your needs, says its co-founder and COO, Senthil Kanthaswamy. People can either look at existing recommendations or ask another question.
“Be it finding a good dermatologist or someone to remodel your kitchen, there is no straightforward way to find trusted, geographically-local recommendations,” he says.
Swetha Ganesan, a city resident, says she used ‘Frilp’ to find good restaurants and caterers for work. “When you post on Facebook, few people respond. Since, Frilp is a community where people are giving recommendations, the response time is quicker,” she says, adding she was able to zero in on one of the suggestions.
“The fact that there are no anonymous users adds credibility,” says Senthil.
In subjective queries, there may be no single right answer. But, by getting testimonies of those whose lifestyle needs match yours, or are from the same community, for instance, the chances of the need getting addressed are higher, he says.
Communities, be they apartment complexes, companies or interest groups, who want a custom-based portal for their needs, can also reach out to them, he says. They cater to Chennai and Bangalore cities.
