A number of firsts will feature in the soon-to-be-released ‘Arima Nambi’. The action thriller with an element of suspense is the debut film of director Anand Shankar, who has assisted director A.R. Murugadoss in many films in the past.

“This film is not the usual mass action movie. It is about a Chennaiite who is pushed to react to the circumstances around him. Vikram Prabhu fits the bill perfectly as he has not done such a role. We chose the title as a metaphor to the character of the protagonist — a gentleman with a lion’s might,” says Anand Shankar.

Popular percussionist Sivamani has turned music composer in this film. “The script demands a powerful background score as well and we have capitalised on his immense talent to add more credit to the film,” says the young director.

The crew shot a song ‘Idhayam’, starring Vikram Prabhu and Priya Anand, in an exotic locale, probably for the first time. “We had to trek for over four hours into the forest reserve, 500 km away from Bangkok. Limestone rocks in the waterfalls made the water look blue and the visuals turned out stunning,” says Anand Shankar.

The director also recalls the action sequences shot in north Chennai for 10 days. “For the climax sequence, we hired Boeing planes at a private airfield. This will be the one of the highlights of the movie,” says Anand Shankar. The film will hit screens by month-end.

Actor Trisha revealed on Twitter recently that she is back to working with her favourite people. The big surprise in ‘Thala’ Ajith Kumar’s project with Goutham Vasudev Menon is Trisha in an important role. So far, only Anushka Shetty had been associated with the project, but with Trisha’s confirmation, Ajith fans have started speculating if their star will be in a dual role.

Trisha’s earlier outings with Ajith have been mega hits — ‘Kireedam’, ‘Ji’ and ‘Mankatha’ — and she has also had a hit with Goutham in ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya’.

Expectations are riding high on the film as music director Harris Jayaraj too is collaborating with the director. Goutham had hinted in some of his interviews that should the film succeed, it could easily spawn sequels.

Talk shows can be quite engaging and entertaining but when a celebrity gets candid, showdowns become inevitable. One should not get tempted and carried away while appearing on such shows. Soundarya Rajinikanth must have realised this by now.

In a recently-telecast show, Soundarya was asked by the hostess to convey a one-liner message to actor Simbu. Pat came her reply: “Stay away from singing, Simbu.” Infuriated fans of the actor tweeted against her remarks and over the next two days, Soundarya had a lot of explaining to do on social media. “Simbu is my childhood friend and the remark was made in a lighter vain,” she said on Twitter.

But the fans were not satisfied and kept hitting out at her. Finally, Simbu himself had to step in. He appealed to his fans to respect the views of others and not react emotionally.
