I have very oily hair. I also have scalp acne and hair loss.— Rasika

Apply a non-oily herbal hair tonic daily. You can wash yourhair every day, but use only a very small quantity of a mild herbal shampoo. One application of shampoo is enough. Rinse it off well. After a shampoo wash, add the juice of a lemon to a mug of water and use it for the last rinse. You should also consult a dermatologist to find out if you have scalp acne, or some other scalp condition such as psoriasis. The dermatologist will prescribe the treatment accordingly. You can boil neem leaves on a slow fire. Cool and strain the liquid. Make a paste of the leaves and apply it on you scalp. Wash it off after half an hour.

I have been suffering from dandruff and dry hair. Please give me information on the procedure of applying henna for conditioning. I don’t want colour.Kanquona

Henna does not colour dark hair. Wash your hair with a mild herbal shampoo three or four times a week, using less shampoo and rinsing it off well with water. Half an hour before a shampoo wash, lightly massage your scalp with two tablespoons of vinegar. Once a week, heat olive oil and apply it on the scalp at night. Leave it on overnight. The following morning, apply vinegar as advised, half an hour before a shampoo wash. Weekly henna treatment will also help. Add four teaspoons each of lemon juice and coffee, two raw eggs, two teaspoons of oil and enough curd to the henna powder, mixing it into a thick paste. Apply the henna on the hair and wash it off after an hour.

I suffer from melasma, which has left a butterfly pattern in a dark patch on my face. — Kaveri

You should apply a sunscreen with high SPF before going out in the sun. Mix rice powder with curd and use it as a facial scrub once or twice a week. Apply it only on the dark patches, rubbing it gently on the skin with tiny circular movements. Leave it on for a few minutes and then wash it off. Mix honey and lemon juice in equal quantities and apply it daily only on the dark patches. Wash it off after 15 minutes. Twice a week, apply a face mask. Mix two teaspoons of oats with one teaspoon each of ground almond, honey, curd and lemon juice, or egg white. Apply it on the entire face, avoiding the lips and the area around the eyes. Wash it off after half an hour.
