Director Shankar’s I is in the final stages of shooting. Apparently, a lot of work has been going into Vikram’s look in the film. Shankar had blogged that he recently visited the Weta Workshop, a special effects company in New Zealand. “We brainstormed about Vikram’s and a few others’ looks. I was taken through Weta Workshop and was amazed at the stunning visuals, make-up and the props done by Weta in the recent years. I was as excited as was when I visited Stan Winston Studios in the U.S. for Endhiran . Sean Foot and Davina Lamont have come up with stunning make-up for Vikram,” says the director.
A shade darker
While everyone aspires to play the hero in a film, here’s an actor who wants to play a villain — Vishal! “Such negative roles have various shades, and I want to explore the darker side of a character at least once,” says Vishal. Does he also nurture an ambition to wield the megaphone? “Definitely, but not now,” says the actor who is eagerly awaiting the release of Pattathu Yaanai , in which he’s paired opposite actor Arjun’s daughter Aishwarya.
It’s all in a title
A lot of film titles generate interest. The latest to join the list is Nambiar . Why the title? Says the film’s director Ganesha, “To become an MGR, everyone must conquer his inner Nambiar — the villain. Once this villain is conquered, everyone becomes a hero. The film’s about an IAS aspirant who fights all odds to achieve his dream.” The film features Srikanth, Sunaina and Santhanam. The camera is handled by M.S. Prabhu and the music is scored by Vijay Antony.
Power of two
The highlight of Vithaiyadi Naanunakku is that the film has just two characters — both played by newcomers. Ramanathan K. Bhagavathi who has directed the film and plays one of the characters says, “My co-star Soura and I had acting workshops for two months, and it made shooting that much easier for the both of us. The film has just one song, and the music director Vivek Narayan has used only two musical instruments — the guitar and the piano. The lyrics is by Bharathiar.” Presented by Media Merchants and ISR Ventures, the film is produced by Banu Murali and Solai.
