Director Krishnan Jayaraj says that his film Sonna Puriyathu, scheduled to release this week, has humour built into a romantic script. “In real life, Shiva is an easy-going person with a terrific sense of humour. His character in the film is close to his real self and the humour in the script is an integral part of the story. There are no forced or contrived comic situations and the viewer will feel good throughout the movie. I think this is something that Shiva has not done so far,” says Krishnan Jayaraj who has gained tremendous experience as an associate of C. S. Amudhan. Playing Shiva's love interest is Vasundhara Kashyap, who was last seen as Maari in Porali , which won her the Vijay Award for Best Supporting role. After Thillu Mullu this will be an interesting outing for Shiva who has two more films coming up in quick succession — Ya Ya and Vanakkam Chennai .
Watch out for Thala
Two films under production, one by director Vishnuvardhan and the other by Siva, have not yet been titled. Vishnuvardhan’s film is almost complete, except for a song sequence, and is likely to be released before this Diwali. Meanwhile, director Siva is working towards a Pongal release for his film. According to Vijaya Productions, the producers, Siva’s film is nearing completion with the recent filming of two beautiful songs composed by Devi Sri Prasad, in Switzerland. Tamannaah is paired opposite Ajith in this film, a commercial entertainer, while in Vishuvardhan’s film, Ajith is paired with Nayantara.
Interesting exercise
Kavaathu , a colloquial term that refers to the weekly exercise regimen that policemen undergo, is based on the trials and tribulations of a police officer. Though the film’s story is serious in nature it has many light moments too. After screening several actors for the lead role I chose Nitish impressed by his performances in films such as Pudhupettai , Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu , Haridas , Nandi , Onbadhu Roobai Nottu and Sindanai Sei . I thought he deserved to do a lead role and my character suited him well. The climax of Kavaathu is something I am excited about and I am sure people will love it too,” says director G. V. Bala, who comes with a 25-year-experience and has worked as an assistant and co-director with several prominent directors.

When actors are fixated about getting six-pack abs, new face Aadhavan sports an unusual eight pack. He says it’s the result of an intense 106-day workout of eight hours each. In his upcoming film Minnal , he is paired with Angana while Navya plays the second heroine. Producer-Director Siraj’s Minnal is a romantic action thriller. Talking about the storyline, Siraj says, “The hero is a playboy who falls in love and turns into an action hero. The interesting aspect is the character of the heroine, which is a split personality, one of which is scheming to kill the hero. The climax is where the suspense element comes in — will love prevail or will the heroine succeed in killing him.”
