Ardent fans

At a function organised recently for his birthday, actor Rajinikanth told his fans that he had quit smoking (both on and off screen), and urged them to do so too. Last heard, over 1,000 fans have decided to quit smoking! Apparently, the actor’s office has been getting intimation about it every day. In fact, his suggestion about pledging their organs too has been given serious thought by the fans, who have been sending in relevant details to Rajinikanth’s office.

A thrilling drive

Last seen in Thadaiyara Thaaka, actor Arun Vijay is excited about his next film Deal by Feather Touch Entertainment. Paired with Karthika in the film, the actor says it’s an entertainer packed with action, comedy and romance. “One of the highlights of the film is a car-chase sequence, shot for 10 days with five cameras, including a sports camera brought from the U.S. It was thrilling to drive an SUV through the narrow lanes of Theni,” says the actor.

High up

Only a few actors from the south have made it big in Bollywood, and if the number of projects he’s signing is anything to go by, Prithviraj in on his way to becoming popular there too. After Sachin Kundalkar’s Aiyaa in which he was paired with Rani Mukerji, the actor has been signed for choreographer-director Farah Khan’s Happy New Year. In the film, he will share screen space with three of Bollywood’s top stars — Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan. The film also stars Priyanka Chopra. An excited Prithviraj says, “I’m thankful to everyone involved, and thrilled to work with the big stars. The film is produced by Farah Khan in association with Shah Rukh’s Red Chillies Entertainment,” the actor says.
