Nandanam
What it is about…
Subha Creation’s Nandanam features Sivaji Dev and Mithra in the lead, while Rishi and Jeni Angel play the other pair in the film. It has music by Gopi Sundar, camera by L. Mohan and art direction by Sivaraj and stunts by ‘Fire’ Karthik. N.C. Shyamalan has taken care of the story, screenplay, dialogue and direction. The director says that the film has all the ingredients needed for a good love story.
Music highlights
There are six songs in the album and ‘Muthal Parvai,’ written by Viveka and sung by Krish and Priya Hemesh, is the best. ‘Kadhal Nadikarai Oram’ sung by the music director and written by the director, is melodious. The uniqueness of ‘Etho Etho Uirile’ lies in the choice of words employed by the lyricist Viveka — at no point in the song do the lips meet. ‘Neeye En Snegidhiye’ by the same lyricist and sung by Haricharan, likens the moods of a girl to the seven colours in a rainbow. While ‘Mayamana Ulagathile’ written by the director and sung by Solar Sai, Gopi Sunder and N.C. Shymalan, appeals, ‘Ethu Enna Valiyo,’ sung by Haricharan and Chinmayi penned by the director, makes an impression.
What they say…
Producer S. Thangaraj: I am from the hotel industry. I happened to listen to the story from my friend, director Shyamalan. The story with twists and turns got me interested in the project and I decided to produce it.
Director N.C. Shyamalan: After my post-graduation, I joined a private college as a physics tutor. I had always wanted to enter the film industry. So I worked as an assistant under directors R. Balu and A.Venkatesh. I did a short film on video piracy (available on YouTube) for the company for which I am making Nandanam , my first full-length feature film.
Hero Sivaji Dev: I did Singakutti some years ago and then went abroad for higher studies. I got two film offers on my return — Puthu Mugangal Thevai and Nandanam.Nandanam is a decent love story revolving around youngsters in an IT company. I have given my best. Let’s see what the audience feels.
Music director Gopi Sunder: I have done eight films in Malayalam and two in Tamil. Before becoming a full-fledged music director, I did RR for as many as 18 films (in Malayalam and Hindi). I have composed all the six songs of Nandanam in a day.
