The Directors’ Union seems to be intent on contributing to society in every manner it can and this was evident from its act at the audio launch of the film Guest .
At the function held at a popular preview theatre in the city recently, director S. P. Jananathan, on behalf of the Directors’ Union, chose to honour Raja Karthik, director of Guest, with a khadi shawl. Explaining the idea behind the move, a member of the Directors’ Union said it was to benefit the poor khadi weavers in the State. “From now on, we plan to honour all our guests with khadi shawls,” he added. Now, isn’t that a laudable change?
Double delight
Two legends of Tamil cinema — K. Bhagyaraj and Visu — will be seen onscreen together for the first time in Oruvar Meedhu Iruvar Saindhu . The audio of the film was released on Tuesday at the Kamala theatre in the city.
“ Oruvar Meedhu Iruvar Saindhu deals with a sensitive subject. Therefore, I required two seasoned actors who could effectively communicate to the audiences what I intend to in a non-controversial manner — hence the two of them in the film,” says director Balasekaran, who is making a comeback with Oruvar Meedhu… after almost seven years. He has given several hits, including Love Today , featuring Vijay in the lead.
Seeking to break away from the norm, the film’s unit had arranged for a debate on the film’s theme at the audio launch.
The latest on Kapadam
Here’s yet another director who has shot his entire film first on a handy cam before the actual filming. Director Jothimurugan, who is making his directorial debut with Kapadam , says, “I shot the entire film on a handy cam in a matter of 15 days before going in for the actual shoot. This enabled my cast to get an idea of what was expected of them. As a result, it cut down the number of days shooting a film would normally take.”
The film, starring Sachin and Angana Roy in the lead, is now done and the director hopes to release it soon.
