Patience is a virtue — that’s why Sricharan has not rushed into everything that came his way after the dual role he played in director Radha Mohan's Payanam . That he has a flourishing practice in corporate law may have helped, but Sricharan is clearly not a man in a hurry.

Now that Radha Mohan's Gouravam is scheduled for release this month, Sricharan is hoping his role as second lead in the film (starring Allu Sirish in the lead) will take him places. “I don't want to get typecast and so have done different roles in Payanam, Billa 2, Mudhal Mudhal Mudhal Varai (M3V) , 180 and now, Gouravam. In a forthcoming film, I play the main villain,” says Sricharan.

The attraction for the silver screen started in his school days when Sricharan actively participated in dramatics. It was only because of his mother's insistence on a good education that Sricharan put his acting plans on the back burner. “So I graduated in Law and went on to do my masters in Corporate Law abroad. I wanted to have a profession in hand, fully realising the uncertain nature of a career in acting. M3V and Payanam happened even as I was studying law in Pune.”

Loves dancing

Thereafter Sricharan left for Singapore to pursue his masters in Law and when he heard that director Radha Mohan was casting for Payanam , he sent in his application. “Apparently, Radha Mohan had already watched me in M3V and had me in mind for the dual role in Payanam . I always wanted to do performance-oriented roles. Romantic, humorous roles, stunt sequences, even a negative role… as an actor, I should be prepared to do any of these without hesitation. In Payanam, I am told, both my characters — that of the terrorist and the comic — were well executed.” And, he has two songs in Gouravam ! “I love dancing and am quite good at hip-hop.”

His experience working with Radha Mohan in Payanam and Gouravam has exposed Sricharan to many areas of filmmaking. “Radha Mohan encourages you if you show interest. I have occasionally assisted him; have involved myself in editing and screenplay writing. He tells you what the role is about and allows you to improvise. It is such a pleasure to work with him,” says Sricharan.

Besides Gouravam , Sricharan has an interesting role in director Premsai's upcoming Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum , produced by Gautham Menon. “There is one more from a fairly new team of talented technicians. I was quite impressed with the script and the sincerity with which the team is going about their tasks. It is a thriller and I play the main villain for which I have to learn martial arts. I am also following a fitness regimen to achieve the look required for the role,” says Sricharan.
