Twelve Tamil films compete as part of the 10th Chennai International Film Festival

As part of the 10th Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF), a competition for Tamil films has been organised. As many as 12 films — Aravaan, Aarohanam, Attakathi, Marina, Mounaguru, Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal, Naan E, Neer Paravai, Pizza, Saatai, Sundara Pandian, and Vazhakku En 18 / 9 — have been short-listed from 21 that competed. The films will be screened at Rani Seethai Hall.

These films will be previewed by a three-member jury, and three will be chosen as Best Film, Second Best Film and Best Artist. The winners will be presented with a specially-designed CIFF Trophy at the closing ceremony to be held on December 20. Veteran Amitabh Bachchan will be the chief guest for the ceremony.

The film festival is being held from December 13 to 20. The Tamil film Aaranya Kaandam, which won the National Award last year, will be part of the special screening programme. It will be screened at Casino Theatre on December 19 at 12.45 p.m.

In celebration of 100 Years Of Indian Cinema, four Indian classics too will be screened, and they include Tamil films Chandralekha and Karnan.
