Chennai Traffic Police booked over 20 lakh cases in 2011 — an all-time high in the city. The number of traffic violations, however, is only growing. In an effort to raise awareness of traffic rules and road safety, The Hindu will hold a live online chat for its readers with the Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Chennai, at 4 p.m. on Friday.

To participate in the chat, log on to >www.thehindu.com or >www.thehindu.com/chennai . Readers may also log on to Facebook, at - >http://on.fb.me/traffic-chat . The chat, the Additional Commissioner emphasises, would not be a forum to redress grievances.
