Cement through TNCSC at concessional price

May 30, 2010 02:18 am | Updated 02:19 am IST - VILLUPURAM:

The State government has proposed to supply cement at a concessional rate of Rs. 200 a bag to those who are constructing houses in plots measuring less than 1,000 sq.ft., according to N. Venkatachalam, Collector in charge. The bags would not attract value added tax.

In a statement here, Mr. Venkatachalam said that a maximum of 400 bags would be made available to each beneficiary. The beneficiaries would have to apply to the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) along with the housing plan approved by local bodies such as the municipality, the town panchayat or the panchayat union and a demand draft drawn on any nationalised bank in favour of the TNCSC towards the cost of the requirements. Fifty bags of cement would be given at concessional rate to those who want to carry out repair works to their houses , for which the beneficiaries would have to produce their ration cards.

While the TNCSC would bear the cost of loading of the bags at its godowns, the beneficiaries would have to bear the transportation cost.
