Ambassador Alexander M. Kadakin was among the greatest diplomats that India has ever engaged with, hosted and gained from, said N. Ram, Chairman, Kasturi & Sons, at an event held here in Dr. Kadakin’s honour on Thursday.
Paying a tribute to the Russian diplomat, who died in January this year, Mr. Ram said: “This meeting is essentially to celebrate the life, work and the magnificence of a great Russian who strengthened the friendship between the Soviet Union and India, and subsequently the Russian Federation and India.”
“In his 45-year-long diplomatic career, he spent two decades in India, which is a tremendous commitment by any standards. And it is no surprise that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among others, marvelled at his proficiency in Hindi and his in-depth knowledge of Indian culture,” he said.
He added that Dr. Kadakin was the envy of other ambassadors while pointing to the kind of access the diplomat had at various levels of government, across the political spectrum.
Consul General of the Russian Consulate General in South India, Sergey L. Kotov, spoke of Dr. Kadakin’s self-assured personality.
