Taking a serious view of the gruesome murder of a woman software professional inside Siruseri IT Park, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Sunday ordered the CB-CID to take up investigation.
The day after the decomposed body of a 23-year old woman, a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee, was found in an isolated spot off the first main road of the IT Park, Director-General of Police (DGP) K. Ramanujam inspected the site and held enquiries.
M.Subbaiah, Inspector, Kelambakkam police station, was suspended on Sunday for slackness in investigation, said a senior official who accompanied the DGP. Rajendra Prasad, Inspector, Thazhambur police station, has been given additional charge of Kelambakkam station.
Sexual assault ruled out Meanwhile, the post-mortem report has ruled out the possibility of sexual assault. “Her throat was cut and there were four stab injuries on her abdomen, but there was nothing to indicate a sexual assault,” said P. Parasakthi, Professor of Forensic Medicine at Chengalpattu Government Hospital and Medical College. The body was in a highly decomposed state and the soft tissues and muscles had degenerated.
Bones of the limbs and cervical area were exposed and there was a possibility that the body was bitten by animals, Dr. Parasakthi said.
The Kancheepuram district police have formed six special teams, each headed by an inspector and under the supervision of a Deputy Superintendent of Police to investigate the case, but the investigation has not made much progress yet.
The DGP issued a note on Sunday announcing a reward of up to Rs. 2 lakh for information leading to the identity of the culprits or helping the police in apprehending them.
