After a nearly 6-km pursuit, a traffic sub-inspector seized 15 red sanders in the Manali police station limits.
According to the police, traffic enforcement sub-inspector R.G. Jayakumar and his team was conducting a vehicle check at the MFL Junction on Tuesday around 8.45 a.m. They spotted a sedan with the registration number TN07BB 6008 approaching at great speed.
“It looked overloaded and we thought there were passengers inside. Despite signalling to stop, the driver sped away and there were no passengers in the car,” said Mr. Jayakumar. He asked head constable Pattabiraman, who was at the Sathangadu junction, to intercept the vehicle but the driver gave him the slip too.
Car abandoned
The policemen at the next junction near Ernavoor Bridge, were informed about the vehicle but they realised the car had not crossed the bridge. After searching the entire locality, the police found the car abandoned near a container lorry between Sathangadu and the bridge around 9.45 a.m. The red sanders hidden in the vehicle was handed over to the nearest police station.
