The 25th Car Rally for the Blind was organised by Madras Motor Sports Club and National Association for the Blind recently. In this rally, the navigator was a visually-challenged person and was given the route chart in Braille format.

The winners were a four-member team comprising Elizabeth Jacob (driver), Shreya Srinivasan (navigator), Akshita Arul (calculator) and Anusha (navigator). It was a thrilling experience for visually-challenged Anusha who is pursuing her MPhil. Anusha was assisted by Shreya Srinivasan, a third-year medical student of SRM Medical College. It is time, speed and distance (TSD) that is crucial in a car rally and Akshita Arul did a fantastic job in this regard.

The student team donated the cash prize to Anusha for her education.

Both Shreya and Elizabeth have participated in various other car rallies in the city. Car rallying seems to be in their blood; their mothers (Lita Srinivasan and Premila Jacob) are experts in car rallying for over 25 years and have won innumerable awards and accolades.
