C. Thangaraj appointed Vice-Chancellor

The government has appointed C. Thangaraj as the first Vice-Chancellor of the Anna University of Technology-Chennai.

Presently he is the Vice-Chancellor of Kalasalingam University, Virudhunagar.

Mr. Thangaraj will hold the post for three years or till he attains the age of 65, whichever is earlier from the date of assuming office, said K. Ganesan, Principal Secretary, Higher Education.

Obtaining his B.E in Civil Engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University in 1979, he completed his M.Tech in Hydraulics and Water Resources from IIT-Kanpur and Ph.D in Large Scale Systems from IIT-Delhi.

Subsequently, Mr. Thangaraj was a senior fellow at universities in Germany, United States, United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

Murugesan appointed

The government also appointed R. Murugesan, Principal, Ranganathan Engineering College, Coimbatore, as the first Vice-Chancellor of Anna University of Technology - Madurai, for three years.
