Bus tumbles off bridge

The driver fell asleep during journey

Three passengers sustained minor injuries and 24 others escaped unhurt after a bus belonging to the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation fell off Padi bridge after ramming a median on Wednesday.

The bus, driven by Prasada Reddy of Kadapa district, had left for Chennai on Tuesday night. When it reached the Padi bridge at 4 a.m., the driver fell asleep, losing control of the vehicle.

It rammed the median before tumbling off the bridge.

The injured were treated at the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital. The Tirumangalam Traffic investigation wing registered a case.
