Metrowater is taking measures to repair the pipeline valve, transporting drinking water from Chembarambakkam treatment plant to Porur, that burst on Saturday morning inundating a neighbourhood in Iyyapanthangal.

In a press release, Metrowater said the stagnating water was immediately removed and work was in full swing to repair the valve.

More than 25 workers were involved in the repair work, a press release said.

Water supply to the Chennai Corporation limits will not be affected due to the ongoing work and the required volume is being supplied from other sources such as Poondi lake, Red Hills lake, Veeranam lake and desalination plants in Minjur and Nemmeli, the release said.
