Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday declared open buildings, costing about Rs. 45.25 crore, to accommodate police stations, women's police stations, residential quarters and district police offices.
Constructed by the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation, the buildings have come up in over 26 districts. The Chief Minister inaugurated them through videoconferencing.
The break-up of the cost of the buildings was: approximately Rs.1.62 crore for eight women police stations; Rs. 5.17 crore for six police offices in different districts; Rs. 6.59 crore for 21 police stations and Rs.31.85 crore for 547 residential quarters.
In her speech, Ms Jayalalithaa called upon the police personnel to be friends and advisors of people and conduct themselves in a humane manner.
