After more than a 5-hour rescue operations, personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rescued two men and two women from the Moulivakkam building collapse site near Porur here, on Tuesday. They have been admitted to the hospital.
While two people were rescued between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m, another two were pulled out of the rubble between 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. The rescued were identified as Anusuya (30) and Mahesh (35) of Andhra Pradesh, Senthil (35) of Madurai and Jayam (35) whose native is not known immediately.
Now the debris clearing work has reached the ground level.
DPA adds:
"Two men and two women were pulled out alive from the rubble, one last night and three this morning. They have been taken to the hospital for treatment,” senior police official Karuna Sagar said.
More than 20 people are still feared trapped.
Including the four found most recently, 27 people have rescued.
“We hope to find more people alive, so the rescue personnel are removing the debris carefully and at a slow pace,” Mr Sagar said.
More than 400 rescue staff were involved in the operation.
