Brahmotsavam being celebrated

The Brahmotsavam of Sri Vaikundhavasa Perumal Temple is being celebrated from June 28 with religious fervour at Koyambedu. The first day’s utsavam started with ‘Simha Vahanam’ in the evening and Hanumantha Vahanam was celebrated on June 30. The other important days of the 13-day fest include Garuda Sevai at 8 a.m. on July 2; Yaanai vahanam at 7 p.m. on July 3; Theerthavari at 7 p.m. on July 6 and Thirumanjanam at 8 a.m. on July 7.

Vaikundhavasa Perumal Temple is the twin temple seen along with the Siva temple at Koyambedu. In this temple, Vaikundavasa Perumal is the presiding deity, seen in a standing posture along with his consorts Sridevi and Bhoodevi. The temple is renowned for its beautiful images of Sita and Rama. The main entrance of the temple features several beautiful Dasavataram images. The temple has separate shrines dedicated to Kanakavalli Thayar and Andal.
